How Can College Campuses Help Students Battling Addiction?
Nearly one in six people between the ages of 18 and 25 needed treatment for substance abuse in 2017, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
Many in this age range are enrolled in or headed to college – a place largely considered to be “abstinence hostile” due to the standard drug-and-alcohol-fueled party culture.
There continues to be a stigma and lack of understanding of substance abuse, but collegiate recovery programs are gaining more traction.
Why are there not more on-campus substance abuse recovery programs?
